From the shadows

Night vision and night combat capabilities are essential in modern armies and law enforcement units to achieve superior effectiveness. They are implemented through different technologies, each of which has certain advantages and disadvantages and is therefore optimal for different purposes. Essentially, these technologies are Image intensification (I²), thermal, and digital sensors (CMOS), as well as fusion of these technologies.

Applications range from observations to driving vehicles to combat and can be handheld or mounted on a helmet or weapon.

As German sales and service partner of Theon Sensors and Photonis Digital Vision, JK Defence & Security offers solutions of all above mentioned technologies for all applications.

In our own service workshop, we carry out maintenance and repairs for your equipment fleet – quickly and competent.

Image intensifiers continue to be the devices of choice when it comes to operations in particularly dark light conditions. The proven technology allows detection, recognition and identification of targets at night and is particularly durable. Low power consumption enables long mission times with low weight. Binocular systems allow depth perception and are therefore suitable for driving vehicles.
JK Defence & Security is a long-standing sales and service partner of Theon Sensors and exclusively serves the German law enforcement market.
Night vision devices from Theon Sensors are available with both European and US Generation III tubes.

Digital night vision devices such as Photonis Digital Vision Low-Light and Ultra-Low-Light CMOS cameras bridge the gap between digital cameras and night vision or thermal imaging devices. In conditions between 2 and 1000 mlx, when there is still enough moonlight or other light sources available, digital products have certain capabilities, such as capturing still or moving images in a quality that allows evidential identification of targets.

Fusion is the combination of at least two of the above technologies. Typically, this involves supplementing or “overlaying” the image produced by an image intensifier or digital night vision device with the image produced by a thermal imaging device. This process combines the different strengths that the various night vision technologies have into one system to provide even more superiority. Fused images can be produced by integrated devices or by using optional clip on devices, e.g. for image intensifiers.
